What is menopause?

Menopause is a totally normal women’s health event that every single women will go through.

It marks the end of menstruation and fertility, signifying the cessation of ovulation and a decrease in the production of reproductive hormones such as estrogen and progesterone.

Medically, menopause is defined by the day following 12 consecutive months without a period.

The three stages of menopause

 Perimenopause

Perimenopause is like stumbling into a whole new world! It's the transitional phase before menopause. During perimenopause, hormone levels fluctuate, causing irregular menstrual cycles and various symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, vaginal dryness, and changes in libido.

Menopause

Menopause is the natural cessation of menstruation and fertility in women.

Defined by 12 consecutive months without a period.

Postmenopause

Postmenopause refers to the stage of life that begins after a woman has gone through menopause. During postmenopause, a woman no longer experiences menstrual periods or ovulation. Hormonal changes that occurred during perimenopause and menopause stabilize, and many menopausal symptoms may decrease or disappear. However, postmenopausal women are at increased risk for certain health conditions such as osteoporosis and heart disease due to the decline in estrogen levels.

One Size Doesn’t Fit All!

"The decision to begin your hormonal journey is deeply personal, and since each woman's experience is unique, a 'one size fits all approach is not effective. That's why I am committed to starting with comprehensive testing, including genetic analysis, to gain a complete understanding of your health and metabolism. This allows me to tailor the most effective treatment for you, as your genes may influence how your body metabolizes hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and your overall health may impact the efficacy of your treatment."
